Beeswax Cream

Beeswax Cream is a handmade therapeutic balm that can be used as moisturizer, as a balm for cracked feet/dry skin or used as solid perfume or insect repellent. It is a natural wax produced by the Wild Native Bees (Apis cerana indica) who naturally make their homes in the walls of the traditional stone & mud houses of the local hill communities and is sourced by them from their wall hives. 

These wall hives are a signature of local architecture-- thick stone and mud walls. With time, the region has been witnessing a change in architecture and a disappearance of these wall hives.

Tradition and innovation
The cream is made of natural wax produced by wild bees. While traditionally used as a medicinal balm, over time, the beeswax has now been considered a by-product of honey collection and usually discarded by the local communities. Only recently was it is collected and used to make value added products with natural moisturizing properties.
Each balm is blended with other natural flavours and oils, equally mixed with the beeswax, melted and poured for solidification to add to the health benefit of the balm. Natural flavours range from jasmine to sandal wood, evocative, powerful, highly fragrant and long used for ceremonial purposes.

Producers
Corbett Gramin Mahila Swayatt Sahakarita is a cooperative wholly owned by the local women residing in & around the forests. Beeswax balm production centres are situated in the mountain ranges are run entirely by the rural women, who are experts and pioneers in the art of making beeswax balms.
