About Us
We believe our connection with nature is grounded in the benefits nature provides to us and our role as stewards of our forests and wildlife. We wish to sustain this connection through our traditional practices to build income opportunities based on sustainable management and use of natural resources.
As the Corbett Gramin Mahila Sangathan, we started with 03 self-help groups from the Ramnagar Forest Division and now aim to expand our engagement -- with 50 self-help groups in 20 forest-fringe villages operating in Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand by 2023.
Our focus has been to capitalize on the traditional knowledge that can help conserve our culture and the environment of our region while generating a sustainable source of income for us.

While most of our SHGs were formed through NRLM (National Rural Livelihoods Mission), WWF-India has also helped form SHGs in remote forest villages.
WWF-India helped set up our manufacturing units within our homes to maximize our involvement. All our members have undergone several rounds of training – ranging from institution building, standardised food-processing, quality assurance, accounting and bookkeeping as well as exposure visits – facilitated by WWF-India as a part of our skill development.
